Dear Mr. Dormandi:

I was hoping to have some good news for you for the New Year, and I am terribly sorry to have to disappoint you once more. Things lookes very promising at Knopf’s, but alas! This does not discourage me, however, and I will keep on trying I submitted «l’Ombre Du Capitaine» to Simon & Schuster, and hope to be able to report better news soon.

As to yours short novel, please do send it along at your earliest convenience. It sounds very good.

Kindest regards to you and Olga, and my best wishes for a happy and prosperous 1959,

Maximilian Becker

P.S. I have at last moved from my office. You may now write to me at 957 Park Avenue, New York 28.
