Dear Mr. Dormandi:

Please forgive me for not writing to you more often. I was on the verge of writing several times, but then I always postpened it, hoping to have some good news to report. I came pretty close to selling «Tu Mourras Seul» but at the last moment some stupid sales manager spoiled the deal claiming that the novel only had limited sales possibilities. The editors though liked the book, and have asked me to let them see some more of your work. Unfortunately they did not like «La Vie Des Autres» as much.

I still think that I can sell «Tu Mourras Seul» and will keep on trying my best. In the meantime, could you send me a copy of your new novel? The one that has been accepted by Gallimard? I would like to show it to some of the editors who have expressed interest in your work.

Please give my love to Olga and the grandchildren.

All the best from the three of us,

Maximilian Becker
