My dear Gara,

Please forgive me for not having thanked you for your very kind letter which I received early this month. I have been abroad so many times during the last few weeks that I have fallen sadly behind with my correspondence.

I assure you that I am only too glad to have been of assistance to you and I am very touched indeed that you have done me the honour of dedicationg your new book to me.

I look forward very much to meeting Gyula Illyés and expect to do so through the good offices of our mutual friend, Paul Tabori.

I hope indeed that we shall meet during the Rheims Conference ; I am at the moment very much occupied with its organisation. It should, I am sure, prove to be both greatly enjoyable and rewarding.

Kindest regards, Yours very sincerely

David Carver

general Secretary
